More Money, Less Problems: Part 1

Hey friends,

As you know I have no particular arena I exclusively post within, I simply post about life and love, and as we all know... life includes those little green pieces of paper called cash. Today I decided to share a piece of my personal life with you; my journey to becoming debt free by the end of 2012.

First and foremost, I would like to acknowledge "The Secret" (aka the Law of Attraction), by saying that I want to refer to myself as not having debt, but instead, building wealth. It is all in how you look at things and I choose to have wealth, not debt!

Now that we have that out of the way, the first task I am going to take on is selling my junk! That's right, I said selling my junk because my trash could be another man's treasure and who am I to stop that man/ or woman, from taking useless pieces off my hands? "How do you do this," you might ask. Well let me tell you that Ebay is my BFF, we get along so well! I will literally buy anything off of that site and will sell most anything too. With that being said, this evening I will start step one, which is taking pictures of your stuff.

Step two, write a thorough, descriptive, attractive, but truthful summary of your item. Then upload it to Ebay. You should make sure not to buy into all the extras that Ebay offers you. A typical listing should be no more than $2 unless you place a "reserve" on your item. A reserve is when you are selling a high priced item and do not want to take the risk of someone bidding too low for it. The reserve ensures you that you do not have to sell the item if you are not happy with the bids. Anywho, you will be shocked at what people will buy from you. In 2008, I sold a white purse that I had only paid $25 for, for $48 dollars and that was after I had worn it for 2 summers. Granted it was in "like new" condition, but still. Every penny counts. Imagine doing that with 5 or 6 purses, you'll have $300+ before you know it from items that were just collecting dust anyway. That makes for a nice addition to the monthly payment you make on your credit card or car note.

Side Note: For larger items, like household furnishings, use craigslist.org. Never list your address on the site and only sell items during regular business hours and when you have at least one other person present with you when the buyer comes to pick up their items.

Bottom line, look around your house and take inventory of the things you no longer use or want. If they are still in good shape, snap a pic, upload a listing and sell those items for some extra cash.
