Sponsor: a man (or woman) whose basis is to provide for someone (typically younger) financially with no obvious reward. Some sponsors are sexually rewarded, but a lot of sponsors simply get minimal companionship and in return, they dish out dividends.
I was a bit hesitant to write about a woman putting herself in a position to “hook” a man solely for the purpose of her expenses being paid because, while I believe a man should certainly be able to take care of a woman, I am not sure I agree that we (women) should have someone who foots the bills, while you KNOW you have no interest in this man outside of his pockets. But of course, there is always the exception. For example, you have the man that genuinely enjoys doing things for women and I suppose IF you have been 100% honest about your feelings, you may dare to challenge my position and ask what is so wrong with being taken care of. There is also the occasion where the woman may genuinely like the man in some way, shape or form, and in return, the man showers her with gifts despite the fact that she may not have given him any form of immediate gratification. However, it is a thin line between attraction and obsession and while the idea of a sponsor sounds fool proof, I recommend proceeding with caution. A man can become possessive when he feels like he is giving. He may tag you as his property and the last thing we want is a fatal attraction on our hands, so make sure you know what you are getting yourself into.
So what do you do if you are faced with the opportunity to have yourself a sponsor? Things to consider: Even if there is not an immediate attraction, make sure there could be the chance of something blooming down the line. If the man makes your skin crawl, walk away! If a man decides he wants to throw gifts at you, you do not have to turn them down, but don’t ask for them either. I know as women we can be a bit manipulative… we know how to hint and basically get whatever we want, but just be careful. Most of all, if you DO have a sponsor, please know that generally it is temporary… make sure you can take care of yourself.
