"How dare you ask me for money!" I am not sure that all of you will know that quote, but it is directly from the mouth of the countess on last seasons "Real Housewives of New York." She was referring to a date she had gone on some years ago. Her date asked her to pick up the check.... WHAT? I don't know about you, but I feel the same as the countess, how dare you ask me to pick up the check! Listen, I am all about women's independence, BUT... when a man is courting a woman, it is his responsibility to take care of her, no? Why should I (the woman) offer you money for the bill? You wanted me to accompany you, remember! I'm certain that some women will think this is harsh, but a man like that would be shown to the door faster than a lightning strike. Why? Because he is most likely use to being taken care of by women who thought he was the best they could do. Sometimes women feel inadequate and do things for men just to keep them around. Inevitably, it spoils the man and causes him to hold higher expectations of all women. Even some mothers are guilty of doing this with their sons, but me, well I don't have time to babysit, nor would I choose to. That is probably why I do not have children yet.

You Want Me to What?

The point is, whether I can handle my own or not, I am the woman... I want to be taken care of, or at minimum, know that my man can hold me down should I need him to. And if we are all honest, that is what most women want, whether they admit it or not.

wow! i totally agree! PLUS, the first date sets the precedent for the entire relationship so if u pick up the check for that one, the man will set that as the standard for the rest of the dates.
I am a lady and i believe in being treated as such! NOW if a lady asks a man to join her out, then maybe she should offer to pay HER share - but i wouldnt know cause i would never as a man out, lol
