It's the Little Things (Video)

Ever wonder why you care about someone to the extent that you do? Sure, the others might have looked good or dressed in the best and some can even hold a brilliant conversation, but why are you so attached to this particular one? Many of us have scratched our heads trying to figure this one out and even more of us have judged that tall, dark and handsome guy walking with the chick that isn't so... (ahem) pretty... trying to wrap their mind around this. What in the world does she have?

The answer is simple... it's the little things! When someone expresses interest in you, beyond your attire, your material possessions and your physical need; but when they show you they hold you with high regard... that's what sets them apart. Nothing in life is written in stone, so go with the the flow a bit more and let the true you shine through. If I have said it once, I have said it a million times; sure there are guidelines in life and love, but guidelines are meant to guide you, not dictate your relationship as if it were under watchful eye by Mother Teresa herself. If you want to kiss on the first date, go for it if the feeling is mutual. If you want to buy him something for no apparent reason, forget the expensive Gucci loafers and go with the wristband he said he wanted 3 weeks ago. It shows you are paying attention. Now I know you are probably thinking... "shoot, I'd want the Gucci loafers," and I would too, but you'll have plenty of time to get the "loafers" once she/he is in your life for more than a season.

It is probably rather odd to reference Jennifer Lopez in an article based around lasting love and relationships, but I cannot think of anyone else who said it better, "my love don't cost a thing!"

Business in the Streets

This is a notice to all social network subscribers: STOP putting your business in the streets! For one, I don’t care. Two, I really don’t care! And three… uhh… I just do not care! Take a look at a status update I read earlier:

“Why do people continue to hurt me? I am feeling really down and out right now, but I got to keep my head up. Why does this hurt so much? Anyone want to help me feel better? On top of everything, I just found out I can’t return to school this semester. How low can I go?”

Wow. Why do people insist on putting ALL their business out in the open? It is understood that sometimes “ish” happens and you need a shoulder to lean on, but ALL of Facebook cannot possibly need to know your personal business. As some of you know, I am a member to some social networks. I find it extremely alarming that both males and females, insist on telling mere acquaintances and strangers, all of their inner thoughts and feelings. Why? Keep it to yourself or consult your real friends. Furthermore, no one can truly make you feel better, but yourself. Don’t mask your pain, fix it!

People love to air their dirty laundry for the world to see… or at least their distant friends. Think about this aspect; is it possible that you have haters out there… why are you giving them ammo? Some people pray on your downfall and here it is, you are giving them the satisfaction of knowing that your life is in (for lack of a better word), effed up. Life is too short to dwell and feel sorry for yourself. Take a day… maybe two, and get it together. Put your best foot forward and walk through the fire. It will make you stronger in the end.
